Keeping A Blog Alive

By Jack Wogan
blog alive
Computers have not only made pens and papers superseded, but also changed the way people share their thoughts and ideas. If our grandparents used to hide theirs between the pages of a diary, today we lay them inside a blog which is instantly shared with the world.

There is no interest in keeping thoughts hidden no matter how dull they might seem once exposed. It seems that the world discovered that everything can be used and like a perpetum mobile is storing what cannot explore immediately. People tend to share everything through words, images and films, according to their education, inclination and inspiration. But blogs tend to evolve fast from the personal domain to become an object of interest also for skilled intellectuals, like for instance politicians, which use them to persuade people regarding certain ideas.

Even if they are used as publicity mean by politicians or companies, or by private persons to express themselves, blogs show best the need of human beings to live in a community. The speed at which information is shared through a blog charms people and that is the explanation for their continuously increased popularity.

On the other hand, most people find that searching information on the web is not at all easy. The volume of information that can be posted on the web is virtually infinite and that is why a blogger has to make sure that he tags his posts as they can be found by the target-public. In order to do that the blogs can be modified with an informatics algorithm developed by a technique called Search Engine Optimization or SEO. The algorithm is used by seo to index your blog in such fashion that the search engines will find it frequently.

In order to perform such an optimization the algorithm is designed to rewrite the HTML source of the blog, changing the entire aspect of it, but keeping in mind how search engines scan pages. This is not just a technical operation, but it can also improve the design of your site, not only the traffic and page ranking. Although for some people traffic and page ranking seem to be similar they are not. Actually the page ranking is a parameter that defines how many times your page hits in a search, while the traffic shows how many visitors you had. Relating to traffic, SEO developed a technique called trackback that is a method through which the author of a blog is notified whenever a visitor, especially another blogger, links to one of his posted documents.

A blog is animated due to the author's ideas and due to its readers. The speed at which information travels through the internet makes blogs to be more vivid and more picturesque than the old secret diaries. As long as they are interesting, popular and properly optimized, blogs can be considered alive.
