By Joanna Fredricson

If you have come to the decision that it is time to buy a brand new car then you may be feeling very excited. We will be eager to get our hands on the vehicle and feel the pride of driving something new. However there are a number of things that you can do which would ruin the whole experience. If we are not careful it could easily turn to buyer's remorse. The following are some of the things that you should and shouldn't do when it comes to buying a new car.

The Dos of Buying a New Car

The following are just a few of the things that you should do when buying a new car.

- Do make a point of checking out more than one option when buying a new car; don't purchase the first car you see. You can use the internet to do all the research that you need to do.

- Do make a point of haggling with the dealer to ensure that you get a better price for the car and make sure you try to get some extras as well. It is a buyer's market now so the seller will be desperate to get you to buy the car.

- Do take the depreciation of the car into consideration. It is probably not a good idea to buy something if it is likely to depreciate too fast especially if you plan to sell later.

What You Shouldn't Do When Buying a New Car

- Don't buy a car without first fully considering the running costs. If the vehicle isn't fuel efficient it could be expensive to keep on the road. You will also have to bear in mind, the fact that cars with bigger engines will have higher insurance costs.

- Don't agree to any finance package unless you are sure that you can make the repayments. Make sure that you are not going to be paying too much for the car and that the interest is fair.
